Люди покинули Хальмер-Ю/Кадыкчан и др. не потому, что жить в них стало плохо, а потому, что жить в них стало нельзя.

Тут причина очень яркая, техногенная. Но чем она отличается от эпидемий моровой язвы в предшествующие века?
